Fundraising Internship

MEJOR Communities is seeking an intern looking for opportunities/career in non-profit management and fundraising. This is a great opportunity to learn a variety of nonprofit management skills in a flexible atmosphere within a small organization.

Summary of Essential Responsibilites

Create a signature fundraising event to raise funds for the upcoming year's project costs. Try to connect with other organizations working in Peru or locally to create a partnered event. Contact local businesses to obtain sponsorship, donated auction items, and/or other in-kind gifts. Coordinate details, create a fundraising committee, delegate responsibilities, work with marketing intern, etc. Create and maintain a proper budget. Work with the Executive Director to identify potential partners, venues, troubleshoot, and make decisions about other details.

If a committee is created, you may also add the title of "Fundraising Committee President" to your resume. At least 1 hour per week should be spent in communication with the Executive Director. We expect a commitment of 15 hours/wk.

Qualifications

Excellent networking and oral/written communication skills

Organized and efficient

Experience in an event setting

Ability to manage and delegate responsibilities to volunteers

Professional demeanor

Good understanding of budgeting and event planning

Ability to effectively manage time and tasks to meet multiple deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience and/or interest in public health and international development

Demonstrated history of successful fundraising, especially while in leadership role

Duration:4 months; may be extended depending on outcomes.

Salary: Unpaid. College credit available if interested.

Location: Portland, OR. Most work will be done from home from your personal computer.
