04.06.09 - 2nd Annual Benefit Dinner at Andina Restaurant
With a great turn-out of charismatic and diverse supporters at this year's benefit dinner, we can already call it a fantastic success. The fact that we were able to raise about $1,800, not only through the tickets sold, but also through the generous bidding on our silent auction, and equally generous donations, makes this our best event of the year. We send out a big "thank you" to everyone who attended.
Also, we want to thank those individuals and organizations which helped make the night so successful. Andina Restaurant, at the head of which is Mama Doris and John Platt, always willing to do what they can to help support us in our mission to help the poorest people in Peru... Thank you! Thank you to Jennifer Clegg, Chef Jorge Luis, and all of the other staff that assisted in the arrangement and preparation of the wonderful dinner that was served.
For making the silent auction such a success we want to thank photographer Anna Campbell for donating a beautiful photograph, Ten Thousand Villages and Onda World Art for donating a number of South American items at cost, and again Andina for donating wine for the auction. The rest of the items were made by hand in Peru, by the women's cooperative that Roberto and Katie helped organize during their service in the Peace Corps.
Thanks again to everyone involved in the Benefit Dinner, and for helping us get that much closer to our fundraising goal!
04.11.09 - 5K Fun Run Fundraiser
Although not a financially successful event, we appreciate all of the enthusiasm that the participants who attended brought with them, and thank you all for being present. We had a lot of fun and learned even more, which we hope will make potential future fun runs even better. We also appreciate all of our volunteers, Emily, Jeff, Judy, Lindy, Sara, Dave, Sandy, and Richard from American Integrated Chiropractors who provided free chiropractic services to the runners. Finally, to the businesses willing to support our event through the donation prizes, Tiki Hut Beauty Salon, Trader Joe's, Palomino's, American Integrated Chiropractors, and Cupcake Jones, thank you for such great gifts to the winning participants. The runners were very excited with their prizes.
